Car Care Tips

Check Your Tyres

Regular checking of your tyre pressures and condition will lead to longer lasting tyres and safer driving for you and your family. You should check your tyre pressures at least once a month. Checking for uneven wear could also be an indication of the need for a wheel alignment. If you are unsure of your tyre condition or unsure of your tyre pressure requirements B & R Motors are more than happy to check and inspect your tyres free of charge.

Check Your Lights

It is a good idea to check your vehicle lights once a week. Your globes can become faulty at any time and having your vehicle lights working correctly helps to keep you safe. It also prevents unwanted attention from authorities and removes the chances of being issued with an unroadworthy defect notice.

Oil and Coolant Levels

Checking your vehicle engine oil and coolant levels should be done at least once a month, or even once a week on older vehicles. Low oil level will contribute to premature engine wear, whilst a low coolant level can lead to an engine over heating potentially causing engine damage. If constant topping up is required, this may indicate an issue and you should have your vehicle inspected professionally.

Avoid Costly Repairs

If your vehicle doesn’t feel right when driving, for example if it shakes or pulls to one side or is lacking power, then having your vehicle inspected sooner rather than later is a good idea. Minor problems have the potential to escalate into larger problems potentially costing you more money and inconvenience on breakdown.
